The Piggy, The Fish, & The Snowman

I believe the greatest reward for you is the smile on children's faces when you decorate gingerbread for them. These videos are your inspiration for how you can create various patterns on small cookies using the basic elements of decorating.

Children love these shapes, and you'll be very surprised by the beautiful gingerbread they can create and how much fun everyone will have in the process.

A big bonus for you is that even if you're decorating a large number of these cookies, your shoulders and back won't hurt, as long as you hold the gingerbread in your hand while decorating – which is the decorating technique I teach you here.

Tip for you

Want to create a "Golden Piggy"? It's very easy. After decorating, simply sprinkle it with fine golden sugar while the icing is still wet.

The Golden Piggy is a promise of happiness, wealth, and abundance for the coming year. According to Czech tradition, seeing a vision of the golden piggy is the reward for fasting all day on Christmas Eve until the festive dinner is served.

Tip for you

You should bake a larger quantity of these little fish, as they tend to disappear from the Christmas platters very quickly.

They also look wonderful on Christmas trees. For this, it's a good idea to make a small hole in the top fin with a sharp skewer before the gingerbread cools down.

Combined with other gingerbread ornaments, your tree will look truly traditional and smell wonderfully of gingerbread, ensuring that all the sweet-lovers in your home, big and small, have a beautiful Christmas.

Tip for you

For larger snowmen, you can insert a skewer shortly after baking to create "gingerbread lollipops" for the kids. Christmas platters decorated with these snowman picks, combined with dried apples, are also very popular.

As you may already know from this course and the gingerbread cookbook, traditional gingerbread is believed to have healing properties and provide energy. Plus, it's a treat that's kinder to your children's teeth than many other sweets.
